FC Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 2-0 in the Spanish classic on May 10 during matchday 35 of La Liga. The win marks an important step for Barcelona in the race for the championship.

The Catalan team took an early lead with goals from Marcus Rashford at the eighth minute and Ferran Torres at the seventeenth. After Barcelona’s strong start, Real Madrid tried to respond and created some chances but was unable to break through Barcelona’s defense or reduce the deficit.

Barcelona dominated possession with 56 percent compared to Real Madrid’s 44 percent. The home side registered eleven shots on target, while Real Madrid finished with nine attempts. There were no expulsions during a high-intensity ninety minutes.

With this victory, Barcelona remains at the top of the league table and is well positioned as the season nears its conclusion. Real Madrid stays in second place and will need to make up ground in the remaining matches.

Barcelona’s next fixture is against Deportivo Alavés on Wednesday, May 13 at Mendizorroza Stadium at 16:30. Meanwhile, Real Madrid will host Real Oviedo on Thursday, May 14 at Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, also at 16:30.
