Braskem, a major polyolefins producer and global leader in biopolymers, has announced a partnership with Katoen Natie to develop a warehouse project in Singapore. Katoen Natie is a logistics and engineering company based in Belgium that offers integrated services such as warehousing, storage, and port operations, including specialized support for the petrochemical sector.

Braskem began its presence in Southeast Asia by establishing itself in Singapore in 2011. In 2018, it started polymer sales operations there to meet demand across the Indo-Pacific region. The company later added a logistics hub and opened a representative office in Tokyo, Japan, in 2023. That same year, Braskem entered into a joint venture with SCG Chemicals called BraskemSiam to produce bio-ethylene from bio-ethanol dehydration at a plant in Thailand. This project is nearing its final investment decision.

The new partnership aims to strengthen Braskem’s supply chain for I’m greenTM bio-based polyethylene (PE) and ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA), focusing on improving logistics efficiency for customers throughout Southeast Asia. Katoen Natie will help optimize logistics performance, lead times, and inventory management.

“Expanding our footprint in Asia will reinforce existing partnerships and enable us to cultivate deeper connections within the regional market. This partnership will contribute greatly to the optimization of our supply chain to support the manufacturing of bio-based products to customers worldwide,” said Roger Marchioni, Asia Olefins & Polyolefins Director and Global I’m greenTM bio-based Commercial Director.

Katoen Natie operates globally across more than 36 countries and has experience managing petrochemicals sustainably within Singapore’s logistics hub. Braskem supplies both conventional plastics and sustainable products like I’m greenTM bio-based materials across Asia. These products are made from renewable feedstock such as sugarcane and can be recycled using standard processes. They are designed as alternatives to traditional plastics with the goal of reducing carbon emissions.

Braskem employs nearly 8,000 people worldwide and operates 40 industrial units across Brazil, the United States, Mexico, and Germany. Its products reach clients in over 70 countries.
