The Canadian band Angine de Poitrine has become one of the most talked-about musical acts on the internet, according to an April 11 announcement. The duo, known for their experimental approach that blends punk, math rock, microtonal elements, and dance rhythms, has drawn worldwide interest with their unique sound and eccentric performances.

Hailing from Quebec, the musicians attracted global attention through their distinctive aesthetic, masked stage presence, and viral performances on social media and video platforms. Their popularity surged after a live session on the French platform KEXP. In just two months, their performance surpassed 8.4 million views on YouTube and became one of the most discussed alternative music videos in recent times.

While many were initially drawn in by the band’s image, it was ultimately their innovative sound that solidified their status among listeners and well-known musicians alike. Among those who praised them is Dave Grohl, who said that the band “blew his mind,” as well as Argentine drummer Fernando Samalea who also publicly praised the group.

Formed in 2019, Angine de Poitrine began performing live in 2023 and has since continued to gain recognition within the global alternative scene.

With their new album Vol. II released recently, the duo reinforces its reputation as one of today’s most original and disruptive acts in contemporary music.
