The Jujuy Secretariat of Culture will begin the 2026 edition of the Capillas Musicales series this Thursday at the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria Chapel in Maimará, Tilcara department.
The opening concert, titled “Flautas en concierto” and subtitled “Flauta, lirismo y cerros,” will feature flutists Gabriel Romero, Joaquín Belluca, Minerva Asís, Jonatan Mamani, and Fabiana Barraza. Pianist Mario Castelli will accompany them. The event is free to attend and open to the public.
According to organizers, the Capillas Musicales cycle was first launched in January 2025 with the aim of promoting chamber music in the province and highlighting cultural heritage found in chapels and parishes across various communities.
In its inaugural year, more than 40 concerts were held. These performances included both academic and popular repertoires while strengthening connections between music, heritage sites, and local residents.
“Inspired by the historical concept of ‘musical chapel,’ the cycle reinterprets these spaces as vibrant cultural venues that foster encounters between artists and audiences in settings rich with symbolic value,” said event organizers.
