CNGR Advanced Material Co. presented its project to begin the process of joining the Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI) during a meeting with provincial authorities and community representatives on March 31. The event, held at Casa de Gobierno, included participation from the Governor of the Province, Exequiel Lello Ivacevich—president of Jujuy Energía y Minería Sociedad del Estado (JEMSE)—and leaders from CNGR as well as representatives from the communities of Jama, Olaroz, and El Toro.
The proposed project aims to boost lithium production in the Salar de Jama and northern Olaroz area with a planned processing plant capable of producing up to 22,000 tons annually. According to officials present at the meeting, CNGR has already submitted its Environmental Impact Report (IIA), which is currently under technical review by relevant authorities.
As part of efforts to add value and transfer knowledge locally, it was confirmed that a joint technology laboratory will be established by CNGR in partnership with JEMSE and CONICET. This new center will support technical studies aimed at optimizing the lithium value chain while serving as a training space for chemical engineers and students from Jujuy. The goal is to foster direct links between academia and industry and position Jujuy as an international hub for technological innovation.
Community involvement featured prominently in discussions about sustainable development. Representatives from affected localities participated actively in technical presentations—a step intended to ensure transparency and dialogue throughout project development. Organizers said this integration seeks productive growth that delivers tangible benefits within local territories.
“Desde JEMSE trabajamos para potenciar la minería en Jujuy, transformando la inversión de empresas líderes como CNGR en oportunidades reales de desarrollo. Nuestro enfoque está puesto en generar empleo genuino, fortalecer a nuestros proveedores locales y, fundamentalmente, brindar a nuestros jóvenes profesionales las herramientas para liderar la industria del futuro”, expresó Exequiel Lello Ivacevich.
With this initiative underway, officials say Jujuy is reinforcing its role in global energy transition efforts by connecting its resources with major international supply chains under an orderly framework designed for sustainable provincial growth.
