Authorities from the Ministry of Education visited the Rural Secondary School No. 2, located in Las Escaleras, PalpalĆ” department, to address concerns raised by the school community, according to a March 30 announcement.
The visit aimed to respond to requests from students, teachers, and parents regarding various issues affecting the school. The presence of education officials was intended to provide a platform for dialogue and find solutions to ongoing challenges faced by the institution.
The delegation included Silvia Jerez, Director of Secondary Education; Julieta Yamin, Director of Comprehensive Educational Support; their technical teams; Fabiana Cisneros, Head of Special Education Modality; and Marcela Pacheco, Supervisor for Secondary Level. They met with school administrators and members of the educational community.
Following discussions at the meeting, an agreement was signed committing education authorities to work with the Transportation Department on student travel passes (BEGUP). Additionally, they addressed specific transportation difficulties for three students whose home addresses did not match those on their identification documents. The solution involves updating student records and relocating one student back to their original neighborhood in Alto Comedero. This measure is intended to reduce early morning commutes and prevent absences due to transportation problems.
Officials said these steps are part of ongoing efforts to support students’ access to education and improve conditions at rural schools.
