The heads of Education, Environment and Climate Change, and Energy announced on Apr. 6 a joint program aimed at strengthening environmental education through action plans, audiovisual productions, and the creation of goods with students from early childhood to technical secondary schools.
The initiative seeks to integrate environmental awareness into educational practices by involving students in hands-on activities related to energy use, technical training, and care for the environment. The collaboration is expected to have an impact across various educational communities.
Daniela Teseira, Minister of Education, said that enhancing environmental education means not only raising awareness but also promoting practical actions: “The effect multiplier of children and adolescents… are factors that also we must value and take advantage of; education, environment and energy should not be understood as isolated fields but as dimensions that interact… to form more responsible students committed to their community and the environment.”
Leandro Álvarez, Minister of Environment and Climate Change, described the importance of an integrated approach: “Thinking about the environment without recognizing education—as its structural base—implies an incomplete view; therefore… we are consolidating a comprehensive approach that articulates public policies… recovers successful experiences and adds new lines of action.” He added: “We seek to raise awareness and generate concrete capacities: so that boys and girls not only think about the environment but get actively involved in its care.”
Mario Pizarro, Secretary of Energy, outlined plans for 2026 which include merging two previous initiatives—’El Saber Ilumina’ (energy efficiency contest) and ‘Renovando Energías’ (environmental goals in production within confinement contexts). He said these programs have already engaged hundreds in practical actions related to caring for water, energy, and the environment. Pizarro concluded: “In today’s meeting we defined final details; in coming days we will present this new program… involving students producing actions [and] educational content … as part of what we build for Jujuy’s future—and that of the planet.”
