Daniela Teseira, Minister of Education, led an on-site inspection at educational institutions in Region IV on the first working day of 2026. The visit aimed to identify the specific needs of each school before the start of the academic year.
Teseira stated that her administration will have “a strong presence in the field,” emphasizing that this is the only way to understand the needs and realities of each educational community. She added, “I want the ministry to be close to the entire community, with phones ready to listen, always within regulations and with the best disposition.”
The assessment included a comprehensive review of building conditions, furniture, accessibility features, supply of basic services such as electricity, water, gas and internet, as well as staffing levels for administrative and general services roles.
The data collected will help plan repairs for leaks, clearing overgrown areas and disinfection tasks. It will also guide provision of necessary materials for a normal start to the 2026 school year.
Teseira was accompanied by pedagogical advisor Marcela Gámez Moreno; Secretary of Infrastructure Matías Torcivia; and directors Carolina Lui Saravia (Early Education), Viviana Villegas (Primary), Silvia Jerez (Secondary), and Carolina Calvó (Higher Education).
