The Ministry of Education held an informational session on Apr. 6 for primary and secondary school leadership teams in Capital, focusing on the use and treatment of national symbols and the organization of school ceremonies.
The event aimed to strengthen institutional practices by providing guidance on applying current regulations at both national and provincial levels. The session was organized by the Ministry’s Ceremonial and Protocol area, which addressed shared criteria for correct application of norms, forms, and dispositions.
Participants discussed the role of protocol as a framework establishing rules, while ceremonial practices were presented as tools defining how these rules are applied during educational events. The importance of etiquette was also emphasized as a way to add solemnity and courtesy to school activities, reinforcing their symbolic and formative value.
During the meeting, it was encouraged that each institution appoint a representative responsible for ceremonial matters. This person will coordinate with the relevant ministry area to ensure unified criteria in organizing school ceremonies.
Minister of Education Daniela Teseira attended the event and addressed participants. She said that she values “the commitment of teaching teams and leadership in students’ comprehensive education,” highlighting that “each school ceremony is also a significant pedagogical opportunity.” The training is part of preparations for upcoming commemorative dates in the academic calendar, including April 19th and August 23rd, with the goal of ensuring proper observance across all educational institutions.
