Authorities announced on March 30 that a rescue operation was carried out by the Division of Rescue and Salvage, together with SAME personnel, to assist and evacuate an eighty-year-old man from the Sunchal area. The operation took place in a mountainous region and required specialized teams to intervene due to difficult terrain.
The event highlights the challenges faced by emergency services when responding to incidents in remote locations. Quick action is often necessary to address health emergencies such as severe dehydration, especially among elderly individuals who may be more vulnerable.
According to officials, the team began their approach from the Termas de Reyes bridge and continued on foot for about two hours through hard-to-reach terrain before locating the man. He was found showing signs of severe dehydration.
Specialized personnel provided initial care at the scene to stabilize him. They then immobilized him on a stretcher before beginning a careful descent, taking all necessary safety measures to protect his health during transport.
The individual was subsequently taken to a hospital for more advanced medical attention. The successful evacuation underscores both the risks present in isolated areas and the importance of coordinated emergency response efforts.
