The city of El Carmen began a training program on Mar. 30 in compliance with Law No. 27,499, known as Ley Micaela, which requires all public officials to receive education on gender and gender-based violence.
The purpose of the training is to provide tools for recognizing and responding to situations of vulnerability and to encourage reflection on daily practices in the workplace. Organizers say that Ley Micaela aims to integrate a gender perspective into public policies, helping ensure comprehensive care and supporting efforts toward a more just and equal state.
The Provincial Council for Women, Gender Equality, and Respect for Diversity said that collaboration with municipalities is important for bringing these trainings to different areas. The council highlighted the role of local governments in making these initiatives accessible across various communities.
Victoria Zerpa, Coordinator for Promotion of Women’s Rights and Diversity, attended the event. Organizers also thanked Cintia DÃaz from the Gender Area and officials from the Municipality of El Carmen for their support in promoting actions that strengthen prevention efforts against violence targeting women and sexual diversity groups.
Efforts like this are seen as essential steps toward addressing gender-based violence through education within government institutions.
