Emiliano Endrizzi, a defender for Gimnasia de Jujuy, will remain in custody at the Police of Airport Security (PSA) facilities at Dr. Horacio Guzmán Airport following an incident involving an alleged bomb threat on April 11.
The situation is significant as it led to the activation of airport security protocols and the temporary evacuation of all passengers and staff from the terminal. Authorities responded after Endrizzi reportedly shouted the word “bomb” while aboard a Flybondi aircraft with his team, who were preparing to travel to Buenos Aires for a Primera Nacional match.
Security personnel conducted a one-hour operation that found no explosives and allowed normal activities to resume at the airport. However, Endrizzi was removed from the plane in handcuffs and placed under federal jurisdiction. He will remain detained until judicial authorities decide otherwise.
Gimnasia de Jujuy has stated that its legal team is now involved following activation of security protocols. The club said it is “fully available” to cooperate with relevant agencies during the legal process. Club president Walter Morales confirmed that management is considering terminating Endrizzi’s contract, describing his actions as an “individual act” not aligned with club values or conduct standards.
Despite these events, Gimnasia’s remaining squad members are expected to continue their scheduled sports commitments once authorities reschedule their flight to Buenos Aires. The club aims for its team to play against Agropecuario on Sunday as part of round nine of the tournament while seeking to minimize institutional impact from this incident.
