A tribute event for Libertad Demitrópulos, a prominent figure in Jujuy literature, will take place on April 10 at the Bartolomé Mitre Popular Library in Libertador General San Martín. The event is set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
The gathering aims to recognize Demitrópulos’s contributions as an author who captured the essence of frontier life and highlighted the role of women in history. Organizers say that remembering the author of ‘Río de las congojas’ means reaffirming her importance and unique sensitivity as a writer.
Demitrópulos was born in Ledesma department in 1922. She gained recognition not only as an award-winning writer but also as a teacher and activist with a federal perspective that influenced national literature.
Authorities from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, representatives from the National University of Jujuy (UNJu), and local cultural figures are expected to participate. They will discuss her biography and explore how her works remain relevant today.
