Ever Banega, a midfielder currently playing for Defensa y Justicia, was registered as a delinquent child support payer by the Family Court of Rosario after repeated failures to pay the court-ordered support for his son Santiago, according to an April 8 judicial resolution.
The case centers on Banega’s obligation to pay $3,000 per month in child support, an amount set in October 2024. At current exchange rates, this figure is about 4.2 million pesos monthly.
The registration in the Registry of Delinquent Child Support Debtors came after Santiago’s mother reported that Banega had made payments that were both less than required and not on time. The presiding judge confirmed the original payment order and directed the football club to withhold the required sum directly from Banega’s salary and deposit it into a court account.
Banega requested a reduction in his payment obligations, saying his income had dropped since leaving Newell’s Old Boys. The tribunal rejected this request and maintained its focus on upholding the child’s rights.
This decision highlights ongoing legal measures taken by courts to enforce compliance with child support rulings.
