Federal prosecutor Gerardo Pollicita charged Cabinet Chief Manuel Adorni on Mar. 28 in a case investigating alleged disproportionate growth in his assets. The investigation includes a request for 12 measures to determine whether Adorni increased his wealth without justification.
The case, overseen by Judge Ariel Lijo, focuses on undeclared properties, inconsistencies in asset declarations, and controversial private jet trips to Punta del Este and New York.
Among the requested measures are reports from property registries in Buenos Aires City and Province regarding assets held by Adorni and his wife. Investigators are also examining the ownership and payment of fees for a lot at Country Indio Cuá that reportedly does not appear in official records. Additionally, the Office of Anticorruption has been asked to provide all sworn statements from Adorni since 2022, including confidential annexes. The investigation is also tracking the origin of payments for executive flights and any links with businesspeople from the sector.
Despite the seriousness of the charges, Adorni said that his wealth comes from “25 years in the private sector” and that he is “at the disposal of justice.” However, progress in this case has raised concerns within Casa Rosada about its impact on government transparency efforts.
