The Finnish Medicines Agency (Fimea) has selected Tieto Tech Consulting, previously known as Tietoevry Create, to develop a national pharmaceutical information repository named Farmasto. The project aims to advance the digitalization of pharmaceutical services in Finland by consolidating data and improving management for both authorities and citizens.

The partnership will focus on building a secure, scalable, and user-oriented platform using Microsoft technologies such as Azure, Fabric, and Power Platform. The agreement includes designing and developing the data platform, databases, and information management systems, with options for support and maintenance services.

Johanna Seppänen, Director of Information and Development Services at Fimea, stated: “We are pleased to announce that the practical construction of Farmasto will begin in 2026. After a long period of planning and preparation, we are excited to move forward to the concrete implementation.”

Antti Pudas, Head of Public Services Business at Tieto Tech Consulting in Finland, commented: “This decision is a great recognition of our ability to deliver solutions for critical national services. By combining modern technologies with our strong expertise, we ensure that the project supports authorities’ work and improves pharmaceutical data management in Finland. We are proud of this collaboration and committed to its successful implementation.”

Farmasto will provide up-to-date and official information about medicines through its website farmasto.fi. More details can be found on Fimea’s official site at Fimea.fi/en.

Tieto Tech Consulting operates globally in design, data, and digital engineering services with over 8,200 employees worldwide. It is part of Tieto, a technology company listed on stock exchanges in Helsinki, Stockholm, and Oslo with annual revenues around EUR 2 billion.
