In the early hours of January 1, 2026, the first baby of the year in Jujuy was born at Hospital Materno Infantil “Dr. Héctor Quintana” in San Salvador de Jujuy. The newborn arrived two minutes after midnight, weighing 3.8 kilograms, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

A second birth occurred shortly after in San Pedro. At three minutes and seven seconds past midnight, a baby weighing 3.02 kilograms was delivered at Hospital Paterson with assistance from public health professionals.

The Ministry highlighted that both births were attended by teams from the public health system. “In this way, the new year began with the presence and support of the public health system, reaffirming the commitment to care for life and guarantee the right to health from the very first moment throughout the province,” said officials.

Nationally, it was reported that Argentina’s first babies of 2026 were born simultaneously at midnight in Mendoza and San Juan provinces.
