Rubén Darío Forestello, coach of Patronato, questioned his future with the team after a defeat to Gimnasia y Esgrima de Jujuy on April 6. The loss deepened the club’s struggles in Zone B of the Primera Nacional and raised uncertainty about Forestello’s continued leadership.

The coach appeared affected by the team’s situation following the match and did not rule out stepping down. “Las cosas no se están dando. Tengo que pensar qué voy a hacer,” Forestello said, leaving open what decision he might make regarding his role.

Patronato currently has only five points in the tournament and is positioned near the bottom of the standings, far from contention for advancement. The result in Jujuy, against one of the leading teams in their group, made matters worse for Patronato.

Despite recent setbacks, Forestello pointed out some improvements in how his team played. He noted that Patronato created more scoring opportunities than in previous matches and highlighted his players’ commitment during this difficult period.

However, Forestello acknowledged that results have not matched their efforts and admitted that fatigue is becoming apparent among both staff and players. Drawing on past experience with similar situations, he said he would evaluate whether to remain as head coach over the coming hours.
