The Ministry of Security of the Province of Jujuy announced on April 5 that rescue and salvage personnel from the Firefighters Division carried out an operation to assist four people who had become stranded in the Nogales River.
According to authorities, two men and two women were trapped by rising river waters near Provincial Route No. 4 during the afternoon on Saturday. Rescue teams responded by setting up a system using ropes, life jackets, and carabiners to reach those stranded and safely move them to solid ground.
Officials said all four individuals were rescued without major complications due to the quick response from police personnel.
The Ministry of Security has issued recommendations for outdoor activities following this incident. They urge people to take extra safety precautions, avoid such activities on rainy days, and check weather forecasts before making plans. Authorities also advise postponing outings if rain is predicted since rivers can swell quickly, making access difficult.
In case someone becomes lost because of sudden storms, officials recommend staying calm, retracing steps if possible once conditions improve, observing surroundings for landmarks or signs, leaving markers along routes for easier return or rescue efforts, remaining in one place to help narrow search areas, and waiting for rescue teams—which may take up to 24 hours depending on weather conditions and last known location.
To prevent getting lost or caught by bad weather outdoors, officials suggest going with local guides or people familiar with the area.
