Fuel prices in Jujuy will remain stable following a price freeze that began on April 1, as part of a nationwide measure agreed between the national government and oil companies, including YPF. The agreement is set to last for 45 days.
The freeze aims to limit the impact of rising international oil prices and prevent immediate increases at fuel stations. This comes as global markets have seen the price of crude oil surpass $100 per barrel due to geopolitical tensions. In Argentina, fuel had already risen by up to 25 percent in previous months, affecting both transportation costs and inflation.
Under this stabilization scheme, the current prices at service stations in Jujuy are as follows: Nafta Súper at $2,157; Nafta Infinia at $2,331; Infinia Diesel at $2,505; and common Diesel at $2,318. These rates are expected to remain unchanged until mid-May.
Officials say that this arrangement acts as a buffer against volatile international markets but note it is not a strict freeze. Instead, companies are temporarily absorbing increased costs during this period.
After May, adjustments may occur if needed to bring local prices closer in line with international values once the temporary measure ends.
