Gimnasia y Esgrima de Jujuy released an official statement on April 11 following the detention of player Emiliano Endrizzi at Horacio Guzmán airport over an alleged bomb threat. The club said its legal team is now involved in the case, which disrupted the team’s travel plans to Buenos Aires for a match against Agropecuario.
The situation has drawn attention because it could affect both the player’s future with Gimnasia and the club’s ability to meet its sporting commitments. According to the club, security protocols were activated inside a Flybondi aircraft, leading to a full evacuation of the terminal and intervention by authorities.
In its statement, Gimnasia emphasized that if confirmed, “it would be a strictly individual act” and noted such behavior is “contrary to the values” promoted by the institution. The investigation is currently under federal jurisdiction, with Gimnasia expressing its “full willingness” to cooperate with authorities during legal proceedings.
The club also stated it awaits judicial decisions before considering any internal measures regarding Endrizzi. Club president Walter Morales told radio La Red that they are considering terminating Endrizzi’s contract in order to protect Gimnasia’s reputation due to what he described as an unacceptable incident.
Authorities will determine when and how the team’s flight will be rescheduled once all required security measures have been completed. The team aims to fulfill its fixture for matchday nine of Primera Nacional this Sunday.
