Health and municipal authorities in San Pedro de Jujuy announced on April 10 that they have coordinated new measures to address the current epidemiological situation, which remains under control with three confirmed cases of Chikungunya.
Evangelina Vechetti, director of Hospital Guillermo Paterson, and Rubén Bonomo, director of the Zoonosis Department at the Municipality of San Pedro de Jujuy, said that chemical blocking operations (fumigation) are being intensified in affected sectors and nearby neighborhoods. The areas targeted include Ejército del Norte, San Miguel, La Merced, Mina Pulido, and 25 de Mayo. There is also a plan for preventive fumigation across the city to prevent further spread of mosquitoes.
Authorities asked residents to cooperate by keeping yards clean and grass short, removing containers that can collect water, using repellent frequently, and wearing clothing that covers skin in risk areas.
Officials said joint efforts between the municipality, hospital staff, and community members are essential to contain the situation and prevent new infections.
