The Ministry of Health of Jujuy announced on March 15 that teams are continuing to visit various sectors of the capital to remove unused items and reinforce prevention measures against dengue, zika, and chikungunya.

This initiative is part of a broader strategy to prevent diseases transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito. The ministry said that these operations are also being carried out in other regions of the province, especially where weather conditions may favor mosquito breeding.

Sanitary teams are conducting door-to-door visits to collect objects that could accumulate water and become mosquito breeding sites. During these visits, they also provide families with recommendations on daily preventive measures to maintain at home.

The strategy is complemented by epidemiological surveillance and vector control actions across different areas of the province. The goal is to reduce the presence of the disease-carrying mosquito and strengthen community health protection.

A new schedule for junk removal in San Salvador has been released, with each day’s activities starting at 8:30 a.m. The schedule includes:
– Monday: Malvinas area – Barrio Malvinas
– Tuesday: Eva Perón area – Barrio Aeroclub – Alto Comedero
– Wednesday: Campo Verde area – Barrios Ascasubi, Obrero, Campo Verde, Mina Lea
– Thursday: CIC Copacabana area – Barrios IV Etapa Tupac and Bicentenario – Alto Comedero
– Friday: San Francisco de Álava area – Barrios Los Ceibos, Cucharita, San Francisco de Álava

Preventive advice includes eliminating objects that can hold water such as cans or tires, changing animal drinking water daily, cleaning patios and drains regularly, scrubbing containers used for storing water, and keeping tanks covered. Symptoms of dengue include high fever (39°C or more), headache, muscle or joint pain, skin rashes, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, intense fatigue, itching or bleeding from nose or gums. Chikungunya may also cause abdominal pain and conjunctivitis.

People experiencing symptoms are advised not to self-medicate and to visit their nearest health center while maintaining proper hydration. Virtual consultations are available every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
