Health teams will carry out targeted operations from April 13 to 17 in various neighborhoods of San Salvador de Jujuy as part of the provincial strategy to prevent dengue, zika, and chikungunya.
The initiative is led by the Government of Jujuy through Primary Health Care (APS) teams from the Ministry of Health. These teams will focus on prioritized areas based on epidemiological monitoring. Actions include removing potential mosquito breeding sites, conducting door-to-door visits to raise community awareness, and promoting practices that stop the reproduction of disease-carrying mosquitoes.
Technical and health measures are supported by territorial monitoring, focused planning, and ongoing epidemiological surveillance with the aim of early detection of fever cases. The role played by residents is described as key for protecting community health.
The schedule for these activities begins at 8:30 a.m. each day: April 13 at CAPS Eva Perón in Barrio 370 Viviendas; April 14 at CAPS Victoria Cruz in Sector 30 Hectáreas; April 15 at APS Hospital Snopek in Sector B6; April 16 at CAPS René Favaloro covering stages of Tupac Amaru; and April 17 at CAPS San Francisco de Álava in its namesake neighborhood.
Officials say this strategy is being replicated throughout the province through coordinated work with municipalities. Ongoing actions include cleaning up waste sites (descacharrado), surveillance, and health education to strengthen prevention efforts against dengue, zika, and chikungunya.
The Ministry of Health reminds residents that community commitment is essential: “eliminar recipientes que acumulen agua, mantener limpios patios y alrededores, y permitir el ingreso de los equipos de salud son acciones clave para cuidar la salud de todos.” For detailed information about intervention routes and areas covered by these operations, updated maps are available online.
