The Hospital “Dr. Wenceslao Gallardo” in Palpalá announced on March 9 the acquisition of new medical equipment aimed at improving its emergency, surgical, and cardiology services. The purchases were made with support from the provincial Ministry of Health as part of the Strategic Health Plan II.
The hospital’s director of health management, Raúl Román, said that two state-of-the-art transport stretchers and two high-quality wheelchairs—one designed for people with morbid obesity—were acquired to enhance the capacity and safety of both users and staff in the emergency and operating room areas. “Through the management of our hospital together with the Ministry of Health of the province, within the framework of Strategic Health Plan II which aims at continuous strengthening of each establishment, we acquired two state-of-the-art transport stretchers and two top-brand wheelchairs, one intended for people with morbid obesity; equipment for Emergency and Operating Room areas to improve work capacity while providing greater safety to users and staff,” Román said.
Román also reported that two advanced electrocardiographs equipped with artificial intelligence were purchased. He explained that these devices will replace older equipment in the emergency area—which handles more than 120 adult patients daily—and in the external cardiology clinic where three physicians conduct electrocardiographic evaluations, Holter studies, and stress tests. “In this case, we replaced equipment in Emergency where use is continuous with more than 120 adult consultations per day and in External Cardiology Clinic where we have three medical professionals who perform electrocardiographic evaluations, Holter studies, and stress tests. Adding technology for different services to the Palpalá community fills us with pride,” he said.
Additionally, Román highlighted recent collaboration efforts with the Hospital Gallardo Foundation under Professor Adriana Vázquez’s leadership. He noted a significant donation was received: “We worked with the Hospital Gallardo Foundation, coordinating actions in this administration currently led by Professor Adriana Vázquez,” Román said. He added that they recently received an important donation consisting of blood pressure monitors, oximeters, and stethoscopes—essential supplies already distributed throughout both the hospital and its associated primary care centers.
These acquisitions are expected to improve patient care quality across several departments at Hospital de Palpalá while supporting ongoing modernization efforts.
