The Ministry of Health of Jujuy announced on April 7 that the CES-Hospital Snopek in Alto Comedero has started providing the standard health card service, allowing residents to access comprehensive health checks. This move is part of the Strategic Health Plan II and aims to decentralize health card management, making it easier for people to obtain their required check-ups without traveling to central San Salvador.

The new service responds to a significant demand from the community. It is intended to improve accessibility for residents not only in Alto Comedero but also in nearby areas such as Palpalá, Perico, and El Carmen. Paola Rondón, Director of Management at Hospital Snopek, said: “Sumamos este servicio a la comunidad para mejor accesibilidad, teniendo en cuenta la población muy importante que reside en Alto Comedero en zonas cercanas como Palpalá, Perico y El Carmen.” She added that this strategy supports efforts to strengthen equity in public health.

With this addition, Hospital Snopek joins other facilities across Jujuy already issuing the health card. These include Centro de Especialidades Norte (CEN) in the capital and hospitals located in El Talar, La Mendieta, La Esperanza, Yuto, Fraile Pintado, Abra Pampa, La Quiaca, Monterrico, Calilegua, Perico, Maimará, Palpalá, El Carmen, Libertador General San Martín (Libertador), San Pedro and Susques.

The annual health card is an official document required for academic and work purposes throughout Jujuy’s public and private sectors. The process includes laboratory tests screening for sexually transmitted diseases; blood sugar levels for metabolic diseases like diabetes; prostate cancer tests for men over 50; Chagas disease testing when relevant; HIV testing with consent; Pap smears; and clinical exams. Only through this procedure can individuals receive their official health card.

To schedule an appointment at Hospital Snopek’s administrative office or by calling 0 800 777 7711 during business hours is necessary. Applicants must arrive fasting on their appointment day with identification documents and payment receipt. Results are available within three days online at https://salud.jujuy.gob.ar/ using credentials provided after testing.
