Colombian footballer James Rodríguez is under medical supervision after missing Minnesota United’s 2-1 win over LA Galaxy, according to an April 5 statement from the club. Rodríguez was unable to return to training following the last FIFA international break due to a severe case of dehydration that occurred after Colombia’s 3-1 loss to France.
The situation has raised concerns about the midfielder’s health and his availability for upcoming matches. His absence comes as both Minnesota United and the Colombian national team prepare for important fixtures in their respective competitions.
Minnesota United coach Cameron Knowles said that Rodríguez is currently resting and remains under constant monitoring by the club’s medical staff. “The player is at home, being evaluated by specialists,” Knowles said, adding that his progress will be assessed daily before any decision is made regarding his return to activity.
Club sources confirmed that a gradual reintegration into training sessions is being considered if his recovery continues positively. Should this occur, Rodríguez could be called up for the match against San Diego FC scheduled for April 11.
Rodríguez’s physical recovery will be crucial not only for his ongoing participation in Major League Soccer but also for his role with Colombia’s national team, which faces preparatory friendlies ahead of the 2026 World Cup in coming weeks.
