Jujuy Energía y Minería Sociedad del Estado (JEMSE) recently took part in the Argentina Copper Projects & Value Chain Roundtable, an event focused on discussing the future of metal mining in Argentina. During a panel on copper’s potential, JEMSE presented its strategic vision for encouraging large-scale investment in the province.
JEMSE’s approach centers on building an attractive environment for investors, which is supported by three main pillars: strong infrastructure, access to clean energy, and a public-private management model aimed at fostering trust and delivering measurable results.
Copper has been identified as a significant new opportunity for Jujuy, complementing the province’s established lithium industry. Both minerals are considered important for global electrification and energy transition efforts. Jujuy stands out as the only province in Argentina with an active copper operation, providing it with a competitive edge as it seeks to further develop this sector and integrate mining into its broader economic strategy.
The management model promoted by JEMSE is designed to attract capital while ensuring that mining investments bring real benefits to the region. The company stresses that sustainable mining is not just an ethical requirement but also a sound business strategy.
“We are committed to making sustainable mining synonymous with progress. It is an activity that cares for the planet while generating development, genuine employment, and a future for Jujuy’s communities,” said the head of JEMSE during his presentation.
