The province of Jujuy is presenting a varied schedule of cultural activities from January 15 to 21, offering residents and visitors an array of events across different towns. The agenda includes artisan workshops, music performances, culinary festivals, and community gatherings in public spaces.
On Thursday, January 15, Tilcara will host the Encuentro de Ceramistas at the Plaza Central at 9:00 am. Santa Catalina will hold the Jornadas Veraniegas en Sol y Luna with a regional dish contest at noon. In San Salvador de Jujuy, there will be discussions and concerts, including a talk with Juan Carlos Entrocassi about mountain travelers at 6:00 pm, and a screening of “Río Bravo” at Teatro Mitre at 9:00 pm. Several venues will feature live music throughout the evening.
Other Thursday events include Ucumar Trio performing at El Caminante Café Cultural (9:00 pm), Noche de Solistas at Casa Tomada (9:00 pm), Luciana Jury at Teatro El Pasillo (9:30 pm), and guitar sessions at Pentágono Jujuy (10:00 pm). In Palpalá, La Yugular will play reggae music live (10:00 pm). The exhibition “Superficies de Placer” by Alejandro Tevez continues at the Cabildo.
Friday’s program features a musical masterclass with Diana Baroni in San Salvador’s Teatro Mitre from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm and again from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Later in the evening, tango group La Yumba Tour performs at 8:30 pm. Other Friday highlights include La Noche Chaqueñada with artists gathering at El Encuentro Jujuy Peña (10:00 pm) and La Sonora Imbatible playing Arde Roma (11:00 pm).
In Tilcara on Friday, there is a fashion show “Flor del Cardón” starting at 6:00 pm as part of “Enero Tilcareño.” Additional events are scheduled such as folk ballet performances, solidarity festivals, and theater presentations throughout the region. Santa Catalina celebrates with a serenade for the town beginning at 8:00 pm.
Saturday’s schedule is filled with festivals across the province. Bárcena hosts the Festival de la Copla from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm; Casira holds its fourth Festival de la Olla with Pachamama ceremonies and ceramic demonstrations from morning until late evening; Maimará organizes its seventeenth Fiesta de la Flor de la Quebrada starting at 10:30 am; Humahuaca features both an artisanal beer festival and its twenty-fifth cheese and goat festival during midday.
San Salvador offers concerts including Diana Baroni’s performance in Teatro Mitre (8:30 pm) while other venues present tango shows or community dances late into the night.
Sunday brings more communal gatherings such as Capillas Musicales featuring Diana Baroni and local musicians in San Salvador’s Parroquia Sagrada Familia (7:00 pm). Humahuaca opens its first Festival del Antigal early in the day followed by intimate concerts later that night. Palpalá hosts Abel Pintos celebrating his thirty-year music career with a concert in Estadio Olímpico (10:00 pm).
Workshops continue into Monday and Tuesday focusing on ceramics in Tilcara as well as photography classes led by Florencia Carolina Calisaya in San Salvador on Monday evening. Artistic activities for adults persist through Tuesday along with natural wool dyeing workshops in Tilcara.
The week concludes Wednesday with traditional encounters such as weaving contests in Tilcara’s Plaza Central during the afternoon. Music courses begin under Facundo Gutiérrez’s instruction in San Salvador’s CAJA venue while Liliana Herrero presents her work “Fuera de Lugar” that night.
According to organizers, “This agenda consolidates Jujuy as a territory where craftsmanship, music, gastronomy and community gatherings weave together the cultural identity of our province. The third week of January offers multiple spaces where tradition and creativity coexist throughout every corner of Jujuy.”
