A new group of representatives has joined the Honorary Advisory Council of the Provincial Interministerial Commission on Mental Health and Addictions (COPISMA) in Jujuy. The council, established in 2021, brings together users, family members, and mental health professionals to participate in the development of public policies related to mental health.
The most recent election took place at the Ministry of Health headquarters in Jujuy. The elected representatives for the 2025-2027 term are Fundación Nicky led by Patricio Tomás Carrillo representing users; Asociación Unidos por la Salud represented by Susana Cardozo for family members; and Fundación Nuevos Pasos represented by Noelia Sajama for mental health professionals.
Their appointments were formalized at the offices of the Secretariat of Mental Health, Addictions and Disability, with Agustín Yécora, head of the provincial area, present during the proceedings.
“The Advisory Council is a participatory space formed in 2021 that invites associations of professionals, organizations of users and families, as well as academic spaces to discuss public policies aimed at including people with mental health problems and addictions,” according to an official statement.
The council was created as part of mental health legislation to provide civil society with a role in complementing government efforts. It allows these groups to make proposals that address issues relevant to their respective sectors.
“In this way, Jujuy continues its commitment to citizen participation and intersectoral community work as a strategy for care and improving access to mental health services,” stated local authorities.
