Jujuy Energía y Minería Sociedad del Estado (JEMSE) announced on March 11 that it has begun working with experts from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to access technical assistance and international standards for mining projects in the province.
The collaboration aims to provide Jujuy with high-quality data and technology, which is expected to help attract serious, long-term investment by offering clear rules and certainty for companies interested in the region. This partnership is seen as a step toward strengthening the professionalism of JEMSE and aligning its practices with those used in major projects across Latin America.
A recent meeting between JEMSE officials and Martín Walter, a specialist in natural resource development at the IDB, set out an agenda for incorporating global best practices into JEMSE’s management of natural resources. The company said this will position it as a modern organization capable of engaging effectively with major credit and development institutions.
Exequiel Lello Ivacevich, president of JEMSE, said: “Nuestra tarea es gestionar con profesionalismo. Que el BID nos acompañe técnicamente nos permite asegurar que Jujuy siga siendo un destino confiable y atractivo, trabajando bajo normas internacionales de transparencia y eficiencia.”
The technical cooperation forms part of JEMSE’s strategic plan to create a high-quality investment environment. By generating geological information and developing pre-competitive data banks, the company expects to reduce risk during early exploration stages while strengthening legal security and predictability in the provincial mining sector under international standards of transparency and sustainability.
