The Gender Equality Opportunities Commission of the Jujuy Legislature met in the Marcos Paz hall to set its work agenda, according to an April 10 announcement.
The commission emphasized opening legislative space to feminist organizations, unions, and feminized sectors in the province. It also plans to review reports on public policies related to gender issues.
Natalia Morales, president of the commission, said that meetings will be held weekly on Wednesdays at 11 a.m. with an open format so that various local groups can present their demands and priorities. “The space will meet weekly, on Wednesdays at 11 a.m., with an open format that allows different territorial actors to raise their demands and priorities,” Morales said.
One topic discussed was a request from the Women’s Council to present its annual report required by the Iara Law before the Legislature. The commission wants this process not only limited to legislators but also including representatives and activists from feminist movements in Jujuy.
This approach aims to strengthen oversight of policies related to gender-based violence. The commission intends for legislative work to directly address the needs expressed by those working within provincial communities.
