The Government of Jujuy announced on April 3 a comprehensive safety, emergency, and security operation during the pilgrimage to Cerro de la Cruz in the Cerro Las Rosas neighborhood. The coordinated effort involved multiple agencies working together to ensure the event proceeded smoothly.
This operation matters as it addressed the needs of a large number of pilgrims participating in a significant religious activity, focusing on their safety and well-being throughout the event.
From early morning hours, teams from Civil Defense, Provincial Police, Road Safety officials, Provincial Firefighters, SAME medical services, municipal traffic departments, and volunteer firefighters from Alto Comedero and San Florián were stationed in the area. Their presence provided comprehensive coverage for both prevention and emergency response.
The plan was managed by the General Directorate of Emergencies under Civil Defense. It included preventive measures, health assistance stations along the route, vehicle management strategies to reduce congestion, and support for those ascending to the site amid high attendance numbers.
Specific actions were also implemented to help with transportation logistics and provide support for participants. The authorities said these steps prioritized physical safety while allowing religious activities to proceed in an orderly manner.
According to officials from Jujuy’s government, this coordinated approach ensured that quick responses could be delivered when needed and that pilgrims received ongoing support throughout their journey.
