Governor Carlos Sadir met with Stelios Georgiados, the ambassador of Cyprus to Argentina, on April 7 to discuss ways to strengthen cultural and tourism relations between Jujuy and Cyprus.
The meeting focused on building bilateral cooperation in tourism and culture. Several provincial officials joined the discussion, including Minister of Finance Federico Cardozo; Minister of Government, Justice, Human Rights and Labor Normando Álvarez García; Minister of Culture and Tourism Federico Posadas; Secretary of Tourism Diego Valdecantos; and Secretary of Culture José Rodríguez Bárcena.
During the ambassador’s visit to the Salón de la Bandera at the Casa de Gobierno, both parties highlighted their intention to promote Jujuy’s traditional carnival. One aim of the official visit was “to consolidate the promotion of Jujuy’s carnival,” according to organizers.
Georgiados said: “We talked with the governor about several topics regarding cultural similarities, especially Jujuy’s traditional carnival with our own carnival that connects Latin America and Europe.” He also mentioned plans for a future visit by other ambassadors from European Union countries so they can experience Jujuy’s carnival firsthand.
The ambassador shared his impressions after visiting local attractions such as Termas de Reyes, Tilcara, and Purmamarca. “Jujuy has spectacular crafts and the kindness of its people is unique,” he said.
Officials say these exchanges could help raise international awareness about regional traditions while opening new opportunities for collaboration in tourism.
