The Ministry of Health of Jujuy announced on April 1 that the province is continuing its 2026 influenza vaccination campaign, with doses being administered according to available stock from national shipments. The campaign began on March 11 in hospitals, health centers, and vaccination sites across the province to prepare the community ahead of the winter season.

Roxana Fatum, provincial deputy director of Primary Health Care and head of Immunizations, said, “The application of the doses is subject to available stock according to shipments from the Ministry of Health of the Nation. To start the campaign, we received 30,000 vaccine doses which were distributed in our vaccination centers and also in private establishments for vaccinating their health teams. To date, we have made very good progress, especially among adults over 65 years old. At this time, we are waiting for confirmation on when a new batch will arrive.” Fatum added that as soon as more vaccines are available in Jujuy province, “the community will be immediately informed so they can come forward and receive their flu shots.”

Priority groups eligible for free flu vaccinations without a medical order include public and private healthcare workers; children aged six to twenty-four months; pregnant women at any stage; adults aged sixty-five or older; and strategic personnel such as police officers from both provincial and federal forces, members of the Argentine Army and National Gendarmerie, as well as firefighters. These individuals need only present their national identification document at vaccination sites.

People between two and sixty-four years old with risk factors—including diabetes, serious heart or respiratory diseases, obesity or immunosuppression—must provide a medical certificate stating their name, ID number, diagnosis and recommendation for receiving the vaccine.

According to officials involved in organizing this effort across Jujuy’s public health system since mid-March this year (2026), flu vaccines may be administered together with other vaccines from Argentina’s National Immunization Schedule or alongside COVID-19 vaccines without needing minimum intervals between applications.

Fatum said information about additional shipments will be communicated promptly so all those eligible can access protection before peak influenza activity.
