Fourteen people received wheelchairs and hearing aids at an event led by Minister of Health Gustavo Bouhid at Hospital Pablo Soria. The distribution is part of the Strategic Health Plan II, which aims to improve the quality of life for users and their families.
Agustín Yécora, Secretary of Mental Health, Addictions, and Disability of Jujuy, explained: “Recently gathered with the Minister of Health, Gustavo Bouhid and his team at Hospital Pablo Soria, a total of 14 users and their families received wheelchairs and hearing aids, following the Strategic Health Plan II, with direct impact on their quality of life.”
Yécora also noted that more than 160 million pesos were invested by the province in this initiative. He stated: “The Province made an investment of more than 160 million pesos on this occasion, which is part of daily work by the Ministry of Health considering especially that without the contribution made by the State, many of these people who need it most could not have coverage.”
Norberto Leandro Vilca, head of the Technical Aid Bank Unit, described how equipment requests are processed. “After medical care, the professional makes a request for technical assistance for the user; this indication reaches our team that requests documentation in direct contact with family and audits the requirement to proceed with the corresponding purchase,” he said.
Vilca added: “Once the equipment arrives, we carry out checks and the patient continues medical care using the required equipment that allows a better quality of life. In this task, we meet families and provide free response to those without social security or who are in the Incluir Salud Program.” He emphasized that nearly 100 people per week receive visits for delivery of hearing aids, wheelchairs, crutches, canes, prostheses, orthoses, splints, among other technical aids.
