The Ministry of Health of Jujuy announced on March 22 that it is ensuring access to comprehensive and appropriate rehabilitation services across the province through its public health network and trained teams.
World Rehabilitation Day, observed every March 23, aims to raise awareness about the right of individuals to receive quality rehabilitation services. These services are important for people recovering from injuries, living with chronic illnesses, or experiencing disabilities. The ministry said that effective and timely treatments play a key role in improving physical, emotional, and social well-being.
With the implementation of stages I and II of the Strategic Health Plan, Jujuy has strengthened its Provincial Rehabilitation Network under the Secretariat of Mental Health, Addictions and Disability. This network provides rehabilitation at all levels of care throughout the province.
Model facilities are currently available in Jujuy. In Alto Comedero, these include Centro Jure for outpatient care and home-based interdisciplinary treatment; CEMIR with programs supporting independent living for people with intellectual disabilities; and CRENNA dedicated to children with mental or intellectual disabilities. Since December 2024, Tilcara also has a center offering interdisciplinary care based on a progressive approach to disability. Additionally, various primary health centers have kinesiotherapy and physiotherapy professionals to increase community access at the first level of care.
Rehabilitation interventions are tailored according to each person’s journey through the health system—whether in hospitals, intensive care units or local clinics—ensuring coordinated teamwork based on individual needs.
To mark World Rehabilitation Day this year, an informational session will be held on Thursday March 26 at 9:00 am at Centro de Rehabilitación “Dr. Carlos Jure” in Alto Comedero. The event is open to both community members and healthcare workers seeking information about available services.
