The Association of Enduro and Rescue of Jujuy (AJER) was officially launched during an event at the CAJA headquarters, marking a new stage for motor sports in the province. The initiative aims to transform enduro from a competitive sport into a strategic plan to attract tourists.
The launch event included the participation of SofÃa Van Balen Blanken, Director of Tourism, and Juan Zorrilla, president of AJER’s board. Zorrilla outlined the association’s plans for 2026, which include organizing competitions, solidarity journeys to rural communities, and a major season-ending event.
With the establishment of AJER, Jujuy seeks to strengthen its position in adventure tourism. The presence of an official body to organize and oversee events is expected to provide greater safety and professionalism for riders from across Argentina.
SofÃa Van Balen Blanken emphasized the potential impact on tourism: “Enduro already brings many people to Jujuy. With AJER, we have the institutional foundation for this activity to grow in an organized way and become a tourist product that attracts people to every corner of the province,” she said.
AJER’s activities will be structured around three main areas. The sports axis focuses on organizing and supervising enduro, motocross, and related competitions. The social component involves solidarity journeys reaching remote areas. The civil aspect allows AJER to assist with rescue operations in difficult terrain in coordination with state agencies.
The association confirmed that events will take place throughout different parts of Jujuy during the year, although specific dates for initial competitions have not yet been announced.
