The Ministry of Health announced on Mar. 18 that Jujuy has the highest rate of organ and tissue donors per million inhabitants in Argentina during the first months of 2026, reaching a rate of 8.72. This figure places the province nearly two points ahead of the City of Buenos Aires, which holds second place.
Officials say this achievement reflects both the solidarity of Jujuy’s community and the ongoing efforts by public and private healthcare teams to meet high standards throughout each stage of the donation process. The Ministry highlighted that these contributions provide more recovery options for people of all ages who are facing critical health situations and are on transplant waiting lists.
According to information from the Central National Institute for Organ Procurement and Transplant Coordination (INCUCAI), statistics on real donors are managed in real time across Argentina, allowing for year-over-year comparisons. Jujuy’s performance has been recognized not only nationally but also regionally in previous years, confirming its comprehensive approach to organ and tissue donation. This includes raising public awareness, training staff, collaborating with various institutions, forming specialized teams, and strengthening capabilities within the health network.
In recent days, four new procurement procedures were carried out in Jujuy—one involving multiple organs—bringing the total number of operations since the beginning of the year to 21 across both public and private sectors.
For those seeking more information or wishing to make inquiries about organ donation, officials note that the Single Coordinator Center for Organ Procurement and Implantation (CUCAIJUY) is available at Güemes 1360 in San Salvador de Jujuy from Monday to Friday between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m., or by phone at 4221228.
