The Jujuy Legislature established nearly all of its permanent committees, putting the parliamentary work structure in place for this legislative period, according to an April 7 announcement. The distribution of committee presidencies reflects the current political balance within the chamber, though decisions are still pending for the Environment and Indigenous Peoples committees.
The official bloc Jujuy Crece retained control over eight key committees. Among these, Gisel Bravo will lead Institutional Affairs and Adriano Morone will head General Legislation. Other committee chairs from this group include Guido Luna (Finance), Omar Gutiérrez (Public Health), Mary FerrÃn (Education), Mariela Ortiz (Culture and Tourism), and Ramón Neyra (Labor and Social Security). The bloc is also expected to appoint the chair for Indigenous Peoples.
The Justicialist Party secured three committee presidencies: Transport and Communications led by Rubén Rivarola; Public Works and Services chaired by Noemà Isasmendi; and Environment, which is likely to be headed by Daniela Vélez.
La Libertad Avanza obtained leadership of two committees: MarÃa Laura Tome Gamez will preside over Social Affairs, while MatÃas Paterno will chair Human Rights. Primero Jujuy retained control of the Economy Committee with Carlos Haquim as president. The FITU party will oversee Equal Opportunities with a Gender Perspective under Natalia Morales.
With leadership positions now assigned, each political group is set to begin defining its legislative agenda as new projects are introduced in the coming weeks.
