Governor Carlos Alberto Sadir of Jujuy, joined by Daniel Scioli, Secretary of Tourism, Environment and Sports of the Nation; Federico Posadas, Minister of Tourism and Culture of Jujuy; and National Senator Ezequiel Atauche met with tourism sector representatives and students in UquÃa and Humahuaca to address the province’s tourism growth. The meeting took place on May 17.
The event focused on the development and future prospects for tourism in Jujuy. Authorities met with hotel, gastronomy, wine industry entrepreneurs, as well as representatives from regional tourism chambers to discuss proposals and challenges facing the sector.
Sadir said that tourism plays a strategic role in job creation and economic activity across the province. “We continue working to strengthen Jujuy’s tourism by showing our gastronomy, hospitality, landscapes, and all the cultural richness we have as a province,” Sadir said.
Posadas highlighted coordinated efforts between national authorities, provincial government, and private stakeholders aimed at consolidating Jujuy as a leading tourist destination. He noted that overnight stays increased from 1.5 million in 2014 to more than 4.5 million currently, along with a tripling in air passenger arrivals. Posadas also pointed out new attractions such as the Wine Route, Solar Train, astronomical tourism offerings, and major sporting or cultural events that are helping raise Jujuy’s profile nationally and internationally.
Scioli said he valued both public-private cooperation around local investments as well as efforts to train human resources for tourism-related jobs. “Jujuy promotes investments, generates new attractions and strongly supports training human resources linked to tourism,” Scioli said.
The agenda included an encounter with students from the Tourism degree program at Universidad Nacional de Jujuy in Humahuaca where officials discussed professional training opportunities within the growing provincial sector.
