The province of Jujuy, Argentina, held a wine promotion event in Asunción, Paraguay, aiming to introduce its high-altitude wines to the local market. The event took place on November 19 at a hotel in Asunción and brought together critics, importers, journalists, and wine enthusiasts. The initiative was part of a broader strategy to position Jujuy as a quality wine tourism destination.
Diego Valdecantos, Secretary of Tourism for Jujuy, said during the event: “Paraguay is a strategic and growing market. We want people to associate Jujuy not only with the Quebrada and the Puna but also with a unique gourmet experience, with high-altitude wines that are an emblem of our land.” The program included guided tastings and promotional materials about Jujuy’s wine routes.
Valdecantos emphasized the importance of promoting regional products in major urban centers. He stated: “High-altitude wines are part of our territorial identity and represent a unique opportunity to show the productive diversity of the province. Each bottle tells a story that combines landscape, culture, and artisanal work. When we manage to bring these products to markets like Paraguay, we not only promote wine but also generate interest in getting to know the place of origin, touring the Quebrada and experiencing it fully.”
Through this initiative, Jujuy sought to strengthen its presence in Paraguay by highlighting its wines’ distinctive regional identity.
