Jujuy participated in the Visit Argentina Workshop held in Montevideo, Uruguay, presenting its cultural and natural tourism offerings to agencies and operators, according to an April 9 announcement. The event focused on positioning Jujuy as a competitive destination for international travelers.
The workshop is significant as it connects Jujuy with the Uruguayan market, which is considered a priority due to geographic proximity and consumer preferences. The province showcased experiences centered on nature, including the Solar Train of Quebrada and its diverse cultural heritage.
Diego Valdecantos, secretary of Tourism for Jujuy, said that there is growing demand “for products that combine sustainability with identity,” noting that “Jujuy has a clear advantage with its tourism offerings and cultural diversity.” Valdecantos also said the goal is for Montevideo-based agencies to feature Jujuy not only as a stopover but as the core of their northwestern Argentina circuits.
During the event, representatives from Jujuy formed promotional agreements aimed at ensuring visitor arrivals throughout the year. Uruguayan business leaders noted their clients particularly value local cuisine and landscapes from Quebrada. This interest could lead to increased bookings beyond traditional summer or winter high seasons.
This activity in Montevideo follows other recent promotional efforts by Jujuy across the region. By expanding its appeal beyond seasonal travel periods, provincial officials aim to establish Jujuy as one of northern Argentina’s leading destinations.
