Jujuy province hosts weeklong schedule of cultural festivals and religious celebrations

This week, the province of Jujuy is hosting a range of cultural and religious events, including patron saint celebrations, artistic gatherings, and traditional festivals. Activities are scheduled across various towns and public spaces, highlighting music, theater, dance, and community practices that reflect the diverse identity of the region.

On Thursday, December 4th, El Fuerte will hold its Fiesta in Honor of the Virgen Santa Bárbara at the Municipal Sports Center starting at 9 a.m., featuring mass, a procession with Capillas Musicales, performances by Dúo Sivila and friends alongside Capilla Santa Bárbara. The day will also include a civic and gaucho parade in the afternoon followed by local skills demonstrations and an evening peña with Tomás Lipán and Oriana Reyes.

Puesto Viejo will honor Santa Bárbara from 10:30 a.m. with mass, official ceremonies, street processions, traditional skills competitions, and a community dance event. Palma Sola’s Traditional Fiesta de los Hornitos will begin at noon at Polideportivo Néstor Kirchner with regional food offerings as well as music and dancing. In Rinconada’s Lagunilla del Farallón area, anticipation for the upcoming Festival de la Vicuña y el gato andino starts with Dúo Salamanca performing.

San Salvador de Jujuy has several events planned: Brian Chañe will present “Music and Poetry: Expressions of Lozano’s Living Heritage” at Centro Cultural C.A.J.A. (Alvear 534) from 7 to 9 p.m., free entry. Pentágono Bar (Independencia 552) hosts its regular “Thursday Guitar Jam” at 9 p.m., while Antares (Sarmiento 268) offers a karaoke night paired with local wine tastings starting at 9 p.m. Earlier in the day at Salón Belgrano del Cabildo (Belgrano 493), there will be a presentation of the book “El arte Rupestre de la Quebrada de Inca Cueva,” which is based on research funded by the Ministerio de Cultura y Turismo.

On Friday, December 5th, Palma Sola continues its celebration from noon with Wara Calpanchay performing. El Aguilar’s Estadio 23 de Agosto marks the 50th anniversary of its Folkloric Festival in Honor of Santa Bárbara de los Mineros beginning at 6 p.m., featuring Oriana Reyes.

San Salvador adds urban art events: The fourth edition of “Séptimo Rap” takes place at Centro Cultural Héctor Tizón (Hipólito Yrigoyen 1302) at 8 p.m., while Salón Pachamama del Cabildo opens “Visiones de Jujuy,” an exhibition showcasing works by several local artists.

Saturday brings Maimará’s first Painters’ Gathering in Plaza Central from 10 a.m., inviting participation from residents and visitors alike. San Salvador offers an afternoon workshop on creating holiday arrangements led by Marisa Gallardo at Casa Baca (Dr. Illia 64), followed by art exhibitions and karaoke nights in various venues.

Monterrico launches its first Wine Route Harvest event at Bodega El Molle (Ruta Nº42) from 6 p.m., including tastings and live music by “Jujeños.” Huacalera features musical performances inside Capilla Inmaculada Concepción de María later that evening.

Palpalá presents Pablito HC live in Pentágono Bar; Rodeíto holds a serenade for Virgen del Chaguaral; Perico closes Saturday night with “Cierre Cultural a María” in Parroquia Inmaculada Concepción.

Sunday sees Puesto Viejo hosting Gran Festival de Pialada en Honor a Santa Bárbara from noon; Maimará continues its painters’ gathering; Volcán organizes Serenata to Inmaculada Concepción featuring Tupac7 and Oriana Reyes starting at eight o’clock.

In San Salvador there are two theater productions—“Inobedientes” at Teatro El Pasillo (José de la Iglesia1190) at eight o’clock; “Mariposas después de la lluvia” follows half an hour later nearby—and yoga classes conclude for this season outdoors on Plaza de las Batallas near Cabildo earlier that evening.

Rodeíto holds another tribute procession while Palpalá features Brumas y La Costumbre performing late into Sunday night.

Monday’s agenda includes Huacalera’s full-day Patron Saint festival honoring María Inmaculada beginning nine o’clock; Valle Colorado celebrates Immaculate Conception festivities later that afternoon in Santa Ana; Yuto hosts Fiesta Patronal en Honor al Virgen del Valle starting ten o’clock with Yurere ceremony followed by mass & parades.

Tuesday sees San Salvador opening photography exhibit “Maestros y Discípulos2025″at Centro Cultural C.A.J.A.; throughout both Tuesday & Wednesday Plaza España hosts sixth annual Feria del Mercado Artesanal Jujuy promoting regional crafts & textiles between ten am & nine pm each day.

The week highlights how each locality contributes unique traditions or celebrations to shared provincial culture through ongoing artistic & communal activities supported or organized together with institutions such as Ministerio de Cultura y Turismo.
