Jujuy reached an average general occupancy rate of 80 percent during the long Easter weekend, while the Quebrada de Humahuaca surpassed 86 percent, according to an April 4 report from the Argentine Tourism Observatory of the Argentine Chamber of Tourism.

The high occupancy rates highlight Jujuy’s position among leading tourist destinations in northwest Argentina for this holiday period. The data was released around midday and supported by statements from tourism service providers in different parts of the region, who said they were satisfied with visitor numbers over these days.

“This extra-long weekend will undoubtedly be vitally important in tourism terms. We have seen good movement in different parts of the country and as we always say, if tourism does well, the country does well because our sector has a direct impact on regional economies and job creation,” said Laura Teruel, president of the Argentine Chamber of Tourism (CAT).

Teruel also said that after Easter there are nine more long weekends ahead this year. “Each one is for us at the Argentine Chamber of Tourism a real opportunity to strengthen thousands of small and medium-sized businesses that are part of Argentina’s tourism value chain. It’s not just about boosting consumption but also promoting investment and federal growth,” she said.

Other popular destinations nationwide included Buenos Aires City, Mar del Plata, San Carlos de Bariloche, Villa Carlos Paz and Puerto Iguazú. The report noted that occupancy percentages could vary between five and eight percent due to last-minute decisions and spontaneous demand.

The Long Distance Business Chamber (Celadi) reported high occupancy on main national bus routes—comparable to figures from 2025—with Retiro Terminal seeing intense movement toward interior provinces with an average between 800 and 850 daily services.

In other northwest provinces (NOA), Catamarca saw averages between 75 and 80 percent; Antofagasta, Tinogasta and Fiambalá were among preferred spots. Towns in Salta reached up to an average general rate of seventy percent. In Santiago del Estero province, Termas de Río Hondo was most popular at eighty percent while Villa Ojo de Agua and Sumampa saw full capacity. In Tucumán province Tafí del Valle exceeded sixty-five percent occupancy.

Teruel concluded that every long weekend “is also an opportunity to continue consolidating tourism as one of Argentina’s strategic economic engines.”
