Jujuy’s Ministry of Health announced on April 7 that the province is among those with the highest flu vaccination coverage in Argentina, especially for children aged 6 to 24 months, healthcare workers, and pregnant women. The announcement comes as local health teams await additional vaccine shipments from national authorities.
The importance of these efforts lies in protecting vulnerable groups from influenza during the current season. Meeting immunization targets can help reduce hospitalizations and complications among at-risk populations.
Minister of Health José Manzur said, “We must reinforce vaccination among older adults since we have a large number in this group, but we are waiting for more doses to arrive in the province from Nación.” Manzur also said that Jujuy consistently achieves strong coverage rates due to vaccine availability at each health post and proactive work by primary care teams who vaccinate people house by house. “The province always has good coverage and is recognized nationally for the availability of vaccines at every health post and the Jujuy Primary Care team vaccinating door-to-door,” he said.
According to data provided by provincial authorities, a total of 23,943 flu vaccines have been administered so far: 5,474 to healthcare personnel (47.46% coverage), 14,556 to older adults (18.2%), 1,451 to pregnant women (34.44%), and 2,462 to children between six and twenty-four months old (29.22%).
Looking ahead, officials expect an additional shipment of 80,579 flu vaccine doses destined for Jujuy in order to meet target goals.
