The province of Jujuy reported on Mar. 23 that it saw significant tourism and cultural engagement during the recent extended holiday weekend, with a wide range of activities taking place across its four regions. The events included traditional celebrations, local festivals, and the launch of new attractions such as the solar train station in Quebrada.

Officials said that these activities generated an economic impact of $4.655 billion pesos for Jujuy. Hotel occupancy reached 60.6%, with more than 37,000 overnight stays recorded throughout the province.

During the long weekend around March 24, Jujuy welcomed 14,096 visitors who were distributed among various tourist regions. The average daily spending per person was $123,708 pesos, while visitors stayed for an average of 2.67 nights.

Tourists used both formal and informal accommodation options: out of all visitors, 8,473 stayed in registered establishments while another 5,624 chose unregistered lodging options. Of total overnight stays (pernoctaciones), there were 22,519 in formal accommodations and 15,013 in informal ones. The province offered a total of 12,382 beds spread across 435 lodging facilities.

The Quebrada region led hotel occupancy rates at 67.4%, followed by Valles at 55%, Yungas at 54%, and Puna at 49%. This distribution indicated relatively balanced tourism activity across all areas.

“Este fin de semana XXL volvió a confirmar que Jujuy es uno de los destinos más elegidos del norte argentino,” said Federico Posadas, Minister of Culture and Tourism.

Among the highlighted events were the traditional pilgrimage to Punta Corral, celebrations for Día de la Reconquista in San Antonio, El Bayeh’s harvest festival (Vendimia), and the inauguration of the solar train stop in Quebrada—further establishing Jujuy as an active destination with a strong local identity.
