Nine wineries from the Quebrada de Humahuaca region in Jujuy showcased their wines for the first time in Buenos Aires at an event held at Naranjo Bar. The tasting was attended by sommeliers and members of the specialized press.
The event highlighted the unique qualities of these high-altitude wines, which are produced between 2,400 and 2,700 meters above sea level. These conditions give the wines a freshness and marked natural acidity that set them apart within Argentina’s national market.
Among the participating wineries were Amanecer Andino, El Bayeh, Fernando Dupont, and Yanay. The event was organized by the association of wine producers from the Quebrada de Humahuaca.
Diego Valdecantos, Secretary of Tourism for Jujuy, emphasized the significance of bringing regional products to major urban centers. “High-altitude wines are part of our territorial identity and represent a unique opportunity to showcase the productive diversity of our province. Each bottle tells a story that combines landscape, culture, and artisanal work. When we manage to bring these products to Buenos Aires, we not only promote wine but also generate interest in discovering its place of origin, touring the Quebrada, and experiencing it fully,” he said.
With this initiative, Jujuy aims to strengthen its presence in Buenos Aires’ wine scene with products that reflect local identity and distinctive characteristics found nowhere else in Argentina.
