Officials from the Ministry of Education in Jujuy held a working session with World Bank specialists to advance joint actions aimed at strengthening key policies on literacy and education for employment.
The meeting took place on November 19, beginning with a visit to School No. 205 Bernardina Mejía Mirabal. During this visit, the specialists observed progress in implementing the Provincial Literacy Plan.
A technical meeting followed at the Ministry Complex headquarters, focusing on initiatives to improve educational capacities and competencies in initial literacy. The discussion also addressed developing essential skills needed to meet demands from the mining sector. Public and private sector perspectives were integrated, emphasizing employability, local talent development, and optimizing management of environmental and social risks related to mining activities. The goal is to promote responsible and sustainable development.
This comprehensive approach seeks to create better job opportunities for graduates in Jujuy by strengthening the education system and connecting it with local industry needs.
The session was led by Minister Miriam Serrano. The World Bank delegation included Jaime Saavedra, Regional Director of Human Development; Igor Kheufets and Alonso Sánchez, senior economists; Mariana Heredia, senior education consultant; as well as analysts Mariana Lef, Yanina Budkin, and Verónica Díaz.
