Jujuy province recorded 131,476 tourists in February, resulting in 360,117 overnight stays and an estimated economic impact of $44.55 billion pesos. The average occupancy rate across the province was 62.3%, with some areas in the Quebrada region nearing 70%.
Tourists spent an average of $123,708 pesos per day, staying for an average of 2.74 nights. There were 435 accommodation providers operating during the month, offering a total of 12,382 beds throughout Jujuy.
Of the overnight stays reported, 216,070 were at registered establishments while 144,047 occurred at unregistered ones. Regarding tourist numbers, 78,889 stayed at registered businesses and 52,587 at unregistered locations.
The Quebrada region led with a regional occupancy rate of 68.6%. Within this area, Purmamarca reached a peak occupancy of 70.9%, Tilcara had 69.5%, and Humahuaca saw 67.9%. The Valles region reported a rate of 59.7%, with San Salvador de Jujuy specifically at 59.8%. The Yungas region posted a rate of 54% and the Puna area had an occupancy rate of 42.8%.
Minister of Culture and Tourism Federico Posadas stated: “The more than $44.5 billion pesos generated in February show concrete economic activity throughout the province, not only in traditional destinations but also in regions that are growing.”
He added: “Surpassing 131 thousand tourists with an average stay of almost three nights confirms that Jujuy managed to maintain occupancy levels above 60% during peak season, with strong pull in Quebrada.”
These figures position February as one of the busiest months for tourism during summer in Jujuy, directly benefiting accommodation providers as well as businesses involved in food service, transportation and retail across different regions.
